BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING MINUTES
TUESDAY, AUGUST 9, 2011
ATTENDANCE: Library Trustees: Gordon Doig, Steve Hicks, Elton Lee

Friends of the Library: Melinda Vennard
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Meagher County City Library.
The meeting opened with a review of the library building exterior and discussion of work progress and plans for a new entry sign.
It was moved by Steve and seconded by Elton and unanimously carried to approve July 12, 2011 meeting minutes.
It was moved by Steve and seconded by Elton and unanimously carried to approve bills as presented for payment.
Approval of Library Foundation By-Laws
Changes to the by-laws were reviewed. Leone was complimented on her extensive work on this project.
It was moved by Steve and seconded by Elton and unanimously carried to approve revised Library Foundation By-Laws.
Budget Update
The budget committee comprised of Gordon, Leone and Elton met with county commissioners to discuss the library budget. Gordon reported on budget progress and also expressed appreciation for Leone’s work on library finances and her willingness to serve on the library board. Gordon spoke to Mayor Theriault about the importance of making the second payment of library city mills prior to June 30 to avoid wreaking havoc to the library budget.
Exterior Building Repair/Paint Project Schedule
Steve is in agreement with plans for the 4x6 horizontal entry sign. Debbie will contact “Call before You Dig” to request location of utility/power lines. Elton was complimented on a super job done recruiting workers. Primer paint remains to be purchased. Valspar paint will be used for building trim.
Friends of the Library
Current projects underway are:
Melinda is working with the Forest Service on the grant-funded pollinator garden adjacent to the new library location site.
Appoint Library Board Trustee to Library Foundation Board of Directors
Rebecca Johnston, Ellen Berg and Kimberly Deschene have agreed to serve on the Library Foundation Board of Directors. It was moved by Steve and seconded by Elton and unanimously carried to appoint Gordon Doig to represent the library board on the Library Foundation Board of Directors.
After some discussion, Melinda agreed to serve on the Library Foundation Board of Directors as a spokesperson representing Friends of the Library.
Librarian Report
Debbie provided copies of the Librarian Report, which is on file at the library. She relayed her conversation with Mayor Theriault and Daryl Mesecher concerning repair of the parking area adjacent to the library in the next few weeks. Loose rock will be removed and replaced with asphalt to correct the slope and hopefully solve current drainage problems.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 13, 2011, 6:00 p.m. at the library.
There being no further library business to discuss, it was moved by Steve and seconded by Elton and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m.

- Spring flower bulb fundraiser
- Organization of donated books for fall book sale
- Selling of Christmas poinsettias
